Last few days

A lot has happened in the past few days. Wanna hear about it, ok here goes...

Sunday we got our permanent teams. Some of the people on the team were very bitter that they didn't get on a wildland fire team and so that brought the whole mood down. I was very excited to find that our team leader would be Katie. She is very sweet and reminds me a lot of my friends back home. When we met later Sunday night, the mood seemed a little more upbeat, so that was a good thing.

Monday was our first project. To celebrate MLK Jr. day we did a project for a senior center in Sac. We cleaned that sucker from top to bottom with about 15 other community volunteers and got the whole job done in an hour and a half when we were scheduled to be there for 3 hours! We were begging for stuff to do. That experience made me realize that as much fun as the social thing can be around here, it is not why I am here. I am here to serve other people. I have been so blessed in my life and now is my time to pass that on. That revelation made me feel good.

Today was our physical training (PT) tests. To sum it up...I suck at all things physical. I got a low time on my mile and a half run and crapped it up on the pushups and situps. I know I can only improve from here, but it's hard to see that right now with my shins hurting and all I want to do is sleep 24/7. 5:30 am is no time to be doing anything except sleep...not Running!

I heard that there was tons of snow in the Ptown area today. I can honestly say that that makes me a little homesick. Could you all throw a snowball at someone for me? Especially if you see my mom. Tell her it's from me! Stay warm.
