I have now called Boston home for 51 weeks. I just read my blog postings from last September and October. I was so excited to live on the east coast and to start a new adventure over here! And now...I cannot wait to move back west! My last day in the Jumpstart office will be October 16. If VISTA member support actually comes through for me and does their job, I will return to Oregon on October 25. Or Oregon friends, start inviting me to your Halloween shindigs.
I have missed my friends and family more this year than the previous two years that I was away. I'm not sure if there was an exact moment or event that made my feelings turn this way, but I know that right now Boston, New England and the east coast are just not where I am supposed to be. I need to spend time with my family who have supported me in all of my moves and my friends that I barely even know anymore.
I will miss the friends I have made here. I will miss being able to take public transportation everywhere I need to go. I will miss the lazy weekends walking around Harvard or the Common. But those things are not enough to keep me here. My heart belongs in the cold, dreary rain for nine months a year. In the fir trees and open roads. In the land of microbeers and coffee houses. That is the place where I belong.
Until I decide to move somewhere else...

Hooray! Your autumn favorites made me excited about fall. And also really excited about drinking apple cider with you! IN OREGON. Woo!
(Oregon is better than Harvard)
