Davis Square - I loved this little area of Somerville. I would walk down to it every day to catch the subway to work. There are cute stores, cafes and bars to frequent. On weekends when I didn't feel like going far from home but wanted to get out, I'd come to Disel, a coffee house, and sip coffee and read while people watching out on the street. Davis Square was my Boston home.
Harvard Square - I loved coming here and feeling like a smart kid as I walked through Harvard Yard. There were also cute shops and restaurants here too. I spent many afternoons at the Harvard Coop (bookstore) reading and browsing. I can totally tell people that I went to Harvard, right?
Boston Harbor Islands - The 20 minute ferry ride is almost reason enough to take an afternoon excursion out to these islands. I went here with Abby and Tom when they came to visit. The day was beautiful and it was so relaxing just to get away from the city and watch the water while sitting out in the sunshine. We went to two of the islands, Georges Island and Spectacle Island. Georges had an old military fort that you could crawl around and explore and Spectacle used to be a landfill until they covered it with dirt from the Big Dig. I only went once but wish I could have gone back once more.
Harpoon Brewery - mmmm, free tastings! The first time I went here was the first Friday after I had started at Jumpstart and it was during a staff outing that I came here. I also brought Abby and Tom here. It is where I fell in love with Harpoon beer, especially the Raspberry UFO.
Providence, R.I. - OK, not a Boston site, but I did take the one hour train ride down here a few times to visit my good friend Erin. These trips were great because not only did I get to see Erin but she showed me around her tiny little state. If I had some reason to live in Providence, I totally would. I thought the town was really fun, but that probably had a lot to do with the company I was with.
Faneuil Hall - very touristy and a lot of fun. Lots of cute shops and the place to go for your tacky Boston souviners. They also have a re-creation of the set of Cheers that is a bar and restaurant. I was quite dissappointed that not a single person knew my name here.
My House! - Sure, I lived in a small apartment on the third floor where birds perched on the other side of the wall where the head of my bed was, but it was home. I got to live with two great women and their two cats and meet their friends who became my friends through association. I will forever love Brianne and Yami for not just being my room mates, but my friends also.
