Hey all. Sorry I have not been writing lately. I am still in Sacramento doing team leader training and it has just been non-stop trainings and workshops and other things that just make me want to do nothing more than crash at the end of the day.
Trainings, aside from making me sleepy, are going well. Tonight I got back from three days and two nights at Camp Mendocino, a Boys and Girls Club camp up in the redwoods about four hours from Sac. It was so beautiful there. It reminded me a lot of Camp Arrowhead, the camp I went to and worked at (which, btw, I just found out that the Girl Scout Council is selling! My beloved camp is being sold! Sad day!) It was nice to get out into the fresh air and do a little be of actual work instead of sitting for eight hours a day. It was freezing at night, and I can't imagine how cold it will be when we go back there with the corps members at the beginning of November!
I don't know what else to say except I am having a pretty great time here. I haven't started any training on my job as a support team leader, but that will all happen once the corps members are here. Oh! I forgot that I didn't tell you all! I am now the official support team leader for the Silver Unit. For those of you who don't know, there are five units here in Sac and they are just a way to divide the corps members into groups. To put it this way; there will be 11-12 people per team, 7 or 8 teams per unit, and 5 units. Does that make since? My job will be to work with my unit leader, Ben, and make sure the lines of communication are open between the teams and the regional office here. I'll do paperwork for them, send out their mail and possibly be sent out to replace a team leader who needs to leave for an extended amount of time. I'm very happy to be in the Silver Unit (as opposed to Green, Red, Blue and Gold)because this is the very first year that there have been 5 units and this is the first year that there has been a Silver Unit. Makin' history!
Well, I need to do some laundry. I forget how dirty a person can get while camping. Plus, until they get more uniforms, I only have one green team leader shirt that I have to wear every day. I am thinking it's pretty smelly after three days in the woods, so I'd better go wash it now. Take care, everyone!
