A New PFA

With my Birthday Resolutions, I resolved to start every day with a PFA. What is PFA?

Positive
Freakin’
Attitude

I first heard this term in a Saturday Night Live sketch with Chris Farley as the motivational speaker Matt Foley. I then heard it again last year during the team leader mini-project with the Great Basin Institute in Nevada. Our project leaders with GBI told us that it was essential to go through our work of trail-building with a PFA every day. That was over a year ago. I’m not sure what brought it to the forefront of my mind recently, but I think that it is a great acronym and I have decided that it should become my daily goal.

So when I wake up in the morning at 7 a.m. and start to internally whine and moan about having to get up and go to work, what am I going to think?

“Where’s my PFA?”

When I am down about my finances, love life, career path or any of the other inconveniences in life, what do I need to remember?

“PFA, jenna!”

Sure, I could just say “PA” for positive attitude. But when that “F” is added between the “P” and the “A,” I feel a sense of empowerment. It’s saying “Hey! I’m going to have a positive attitude whether I or the world likes it or not! Don’t mess with my PFA!”

So, readers, I encourage you to add this term to your vocabulary. Life is going to suck at times… this we all know. But the suckiness does not have to bring you down (or suck you down, if you’d prefer). Nothing and no one is going to dictate how you feel! We’ve got our PFAs, world. Deal with that!
