It's back on like Donkey Kong!

Last week I decided that a great way to get to the east coast was to apply, once again, to be an AmeriCorps member. This time I would be a VISTA, which is different than NCCC which I was with the past two years. I submitted my application to 10 organizations on the east coast in MA, CT, MD and DC. I submitted my application last Monday. Tuesday, the first person to respond was Jumpstart, a national program that's mission is to make sure that every child enters school ready to succeed. The national office is in Boston. I interviewed with John Thursday morning and had a second interview with Kristen that afternoon. Both interviews went very well, but I was trying not to get my hopes up. They told me I'd probably hear back from them next week. Today, Friday, I got a call at 3 p.m. and was informed that I got the job! I'm moving to Boston! With a job!

I'm going back into a life of virtual poverty, but I'll be working in a national office and have input on how the Jumpstart program can run more effeciently and all that good stuff that goes with national non-profits. I am so excited I could just pee my pants!

My starting date is either Oct 14 or Oct 20. I will be staying with my friend Maegan whom I was a Corps Member with last year until I find a place to live. I'll be there for at least a year.

I think I need to become a Red Sox fan now... and also a baseball fan.

Are you happy for me? Cause I'm damn happy right now. So long West Coast, I'll see you later!
