Well friends, my AmeriAdventures are over. On August 8 I flew into Portland after completing 19 total months of service with NCCC. It has been over a week and it still does not feel real that I am no longer an STL. I feel like I will be back in the office next week and carry on with business as usual. I prolonged my AmeriCorps experience last week when my dear friend and co-STL Stuart stayed a night with me on his drive home and we met up with another TL, Caitlin, in Portland. Then another dear TL friend, Kathryn, stayed a night on the way back to her home with her younger sister. I had a great time taking them to Powell's (Mecca for people who like books, in my opinion) and showing off the beauty of my home state.
I am taking it easy these days. I wake up late, laze around the house, go to coffee shops and read, talk to the townies and that's about it.
Today, the townies I talked to had a 10-week old puppy that I held for a good half-hour. Totally the highlight of my day.
This lifestyle is going to get old really soon, but for now, I am content.
